Exploring Rievaulx Abbey England
This
enormous Cistercian house, numbering some 150 monks and 500 lay
brethren at its peak, was the center from which several other northern
abbeys were colonised.

Refectory was the first part of the monastery rebuilt during the reign
of Aelred. It is surrounded by the warming house and kitchen.
